Disney Planning Late October- November 2023

So I am headed to the mouse’s house! I am going with my lady and the hope and plan is catch a little Halloween madness, and a little Christmas magic. We will be staying at Shades of Green which is a DOD resort right down the street from the Polynesian resort which is a Disney resort. The benefit to being so close is that a ten minute walk and you can hop on the monorail to the different Disney parks. Our Adventure will be for 5 full days and we are hitting up all the parks to include we are truly excited to attend the RIP tour at Universal Orlando. This is their super spooky haunted house tours. Due to my level of mobility I am willing to pay the fee in order to not fight with thousands of people and due to several of my conditions waiting in lines becomes problematic. So with the RIP access I am able to be part of a private tour that is guided to each of their haunted houses attractions, and gain front of the line access once for each attraction. The value in this is both time, and mobility for myself at least. I will definitely capture as much of the magic as I can and provide any and all the useful guidance and feedback so others can enjoy their magic experience to the fullest! Check back after my latest adventure for all the details.

Ukraine!

So I am off to Ukraine! I will be traveling through Ukraine for a week. During my time in this beautiful country I plan to visit mostly the westside. My plan as always is to learn more about the world out my own bubble. I will try to learn a few phases in the Ukrainian language. I hope to post a few videos of my adventure as well. My goal is have a new Ability Travels YouTube channel for you all to join along in the fun. I am looking forward to this new adventure as well as learn more about a new place, it’s people and culture. Once again I hope you will follow me and enjoy the adventures we find.

Ukraine update! - So Ukraine was more beautiful than I could have even imaged. The people, culture and the food were amazing! Ukraine’s people are friendly, warm, and treat you as if you were family. The cost for many things is very affordable compared to many other European countries. I was able to visit Kyiv, and a few areas around it. I was able to climb several mountains and enjoy a ski resort during the off season.

Portugal was a blast!

So my adventure to Portugal was a huge success! I started off my trip arriving in Lisbon on a Saturday. I will say one thing to be aware of is when you arrive early in the morning to be prepared to drop your bags off at where ever you are staying at and go explore. I know many people will be tried and would love to take a nap or rest but in my experience the hotel or place you are staying at will not have your room ready. I would ensure that the place you are staying will at least allow you to leave your bags so you can explore until you are able to check in. I have not found a place that would not, but I have heard of a few.

I would say for most part I followed my previous itinerary. Check out the Portugal travel titles to learn more about those adventures, and join me on my next adventure!

PORTUGAL PLANNING!

I am preparing for my trip to Portugal in less than two weeks. I started off buying my plan ticket the end of June because I was searching for a new adventure. I have heard wonderful things regarding Portugal as a whole, but because I only have eight actual days in the country my plan is to spend several in days Lisbon, at least a day trip to Sintra, and a few days in Porto.

My plan so far is to say at hostels because they are very affordable and in my opinion offer more than most hotels for the money. When I book at hostels I usually get a private room either single or double this way I have my own space similar to a hotel, however I also get to be around fellow travelers who I can share stories of our adventure and get great advice. Many of these hostels are rated very high and even offer bonus things like free breakfast, and laundry facilities on-site. While I can say it can be fun to have an adventure searching out one in a foreign country it can also be nice to spend that time searching for something great to eat or see. Hostels often offer tours similar to hotels as well or know where you can go to obtain one.

I always do a lot of research on what are the places to see and things to do, but I always find fantastic secrets and hidden gems when I travel. In my opinion it is a good idea to figure out what you would like to see and then do a basic itinerary. Things can change and that is okay, but having a game plan makes the adventures manageable. For instance I will in Lisbon the first part of my journey and at first the weather said it would be cloudy but not rain. Well wouldn’t you know the weather is unpredictable and now it says rain for the first four days I am on my trip. Well my plan will change a little but I will pack a jacket with a hood and an umbrella, but the show must go on. My point is having a plan is the start not the end, but it allows you to think of what you may want to do and then if you change your mind then you can do plan B.

As I stated above the tentative plan is the first three day in Portugal will be spent in Lisbon. I plan to visit a number of sites, and hope to have some dry time to take some fantastic scenic photos of the city. I plan to take a lot of the trams around as my mobility will limit the amount of walking I can do, but I am sure I will still get plenty of exercise. I am also hoping to have a dry day so I can take a day trip to Sintra. I hear it is a wonderland and should not be missed. I will let everyone know how the adventure goes.

After the first three days in Lisbon I am taking train to the city of Porto and will be there for two days. I am excited for many reasons to visit Porto. Yes I plan to indulge in some Port wine, and seafood, but there is also a few leather shops I am intending on visiting. Portugal is know for their master craftsman for their leather working. I hope to find a nice pair of dress shoes. Once the two days expire I will return to Lisbon for my last two days. I am hoping if I was unable to visit Sintra the first three days I can do so during the last two.

A nice surprise at the end of my trip that I purposely added in was an extended layover. I had the option to either leave Portugal and get home that same day late in the evening or have an longer layover and come home the next day. The second option was twenty four hours in Dublin Ireland. If you have never been you really should put it on your travel list. To learn about my adventure in this beautiful country just click on the Dublin Ireland tile. Truly one of my favorite places. Well I will keep everyone posted on how it goes when I return or if there is down time I will post in the Portugal section.

Welcome to the adventure

Why not see the world? Often people have several reasons, money, time, mobility. What if in a months time our world would be coming to an end. Would you at that point say to yourself "I am satisfied with what I have done and the places I have seen?" For those who can say yes I offer congratulations. however for those of us who constantly strive to find a new adventure or learn about new and exciting cultures I welcome you.
